I love how both exasperated and admiring you sound here. I can feel the overwhelming aura o your mom in your sentences and how the shadow it projected must've been both comforting and hard to escape. There would be times, I'm sure, where you'd want to be lost in that shadow, hidden, safe but then, other times, wanting desperately to find your way out form beneath it, out into the light. Really, really, great stuff.

I text and email for much the same reason. As absurd as it might be, when faced with eternity….. I tell myself the pixels on a screen are more substantive and longer-lasting than words spoken, left to vanish in the air. I totally get it, my friend.
